Week 3- Ryan Cooper

In the book Eating Animals at the start of chapter two the author tells us why he use to hate dogs and list many reasons on why he highly disliked him. Then in the paragraphs after he goes on to tell us how he changed his view on dogs and how he loves his dog George now. In chapter 6 of Thank You For Arguing the author tells us how we need to get our audience to like us and also not show bias towards one side. The author of Eating Animals tells us how he previously hated dogs but now he loves them so therefore he can appeal to both dog lovers and non-dog lovers since he can see where both sides are coming from. Through out chapter 2 in Eating Animals the author talks about how even though in America we don’t eat our dogs but in other parts of the world it isn’t uncommon for a family to eat dog for dinner. I personally would never eat a dog, but I have never really thought about the points that he brings up. Through out the chapter he compares dogs to fish and how they are both animals. I find it very strange how in our society we would be disgusted if someone said we are having dog for dinner but on the other hand if someone said we were having fish for dinner it wouldn’t even cross our mind that eating fish is disgusting or inhumane of us.
