Kenny Levine week 8

During the week of speeches, I found that the group that most intrigued me was the group that had the issue of abortion.  This group did a great job of appealing to the audience.  For example, Dani's character told the audience about how her mother got pregnant when she was very young, and almost had an abortion, but instead decided to go through with the pregnancy, and that is the reason why she was alive.  When she described her uprbringing and how even though she didn't grow up wealthy, she is forever thankful that her mother decided to keep her, this was a very strong use of pathos because it got the audience to feel for her.  At the same time, Ryan also did a good job of playing on the audience's emotion by detailing a story about his friend who was raped and subsequently chose to have an abortion to not have to constantly be reminded about the time she was raped.  Abortion is a very touchy subject, but both Ryan and Dani did a great job of using pathos by telling their own emotional stories to get the audience to sympathize with their viewpoints, however they also were able to use ethos by telling their stories from their own experiences with this issue, which helped them enhance their credibility.
