The sixth chapter of Thank you for Arguing , devotes itself to rhetorical virtue. Heinrich explains that rhetoric can spring from a truly noble speaker trying to express a point for a better cause . However , it can also be faked by a skillful rhetorician. The political germ of rhetoric is about how one adapts an argument rater than expressing plain righteousness without any skill. Here , the adaption refers to the adaption of values which can be adapted by the audience who is reading or hearing your argument. Foers definitely uses this technique in every single chapter of Eating Animals.  His values regarding animals turning into meat and the way our humanity switch likes to turn conveniently off and on regarding which meat to eat and which meat to not gives us a self reflecting mirror regarding how hypocritical and pitiful we are.  He uses his power of knowledge , for example , in chapter 4 , by giving us a lot of new information regarding the "destroying" and treatment of chickens to awaken our awareness and disgust on what we spend our daily lives on. This sort of appalling information leaders to the viewers adapting the value judgments of the rhetorician  . For example , Natalie Portman had once commented that by reading Foer's Eating Animals , she had turned into a vegan activist . Therefore , by disgusting the readers of factual information will lead them to adapt the author's perceptions and value judgement as their own  , whether the argument is morally right or not. For example , when Hitler had started expounding his policy of totalitarianism , his concepts of Aryan blood and Non-Aryan blood was deceptive but so logically constructed with rhetoric skill , that the German public began to adapt Hitler's value judgments and bean to see themselves as Aryans as well. This led to them being perfectly fine with the society Hitler had created by isolating Jews in every single thing in society . This was more than just morally wrong , but the strength of value adaptation it garnered through the skill of building artificial logic in order to support its argument had won the public over in adapting the same values as well. This shows the power of rhetoric and the influence that it can have on people. Obedience that happens through the adaptation of someone else's views , can be a very dangerous thing.
