One of the logical fallacies that Heinrich points out is known as the slippery slope. This concept sates that when someone allows something to happen for example , A. If we allow A to happen , then F will consequently happen too . Therefore , A should not happen in the first place. This is considered to be a logical fallacy because the speaker avoids engaging with the main issue at hand . Instead, he shifts his attention to baseless extreme hypotheticals. For example , Carl claims that if we allow same sex marriage to happen , then we'll also be allowing children to their parents in future or even baboons. I have noticed this fallacy definitely in Foers' 4th chapter of Eating Animals. Foers talks about the consumption of chicken and the sort of processing it goes through. He informs many ignorant people of the various diseases chickens contain ,destroying the myth of chickens being far healthier to eat than pigs or cows. The most shocking revelation is when we learn about many chickens not being washed . But , even then their meat is still legally sold in supermarkets , labelled to be "frozen and fresh". However, he commits the fallacy of slippery slope as he claims that since America is the most powerful country in the world , the treatment of animal processing there might extend to other countries like India and China that would need more resources because of its large populations. Therefore , in this manner , this system of poultry treatment would extend all over the world , and life would eventually end by this , as we know it. He starts forgetting all the brilliant details he stated about chickens being layers and broilers and the way male layers are "destroyed" . The significance of light and the food given to them at different periods of time expands the use of logos at its maximum that gives his entire argument regarding the treatment of chickens a huge boost. However , the concentration regarding the main point of his argument falters and begins to fade when he starts making baseless assumptions regarding this practice to expand to the extent of the world eventually ending. One thing is true , that processed meat in stores within India , China and Japan are deliberately increasing due to the westernization taking place within these third world countries due to American influence extending all over the world . We have McDonald chains of restaurants in Mumbai , KFC in Kolkata , and American brands of frozen meat like Heines in Indian supermarkets.Even lower middle class Indians who have no idea about what Burger King or Pizza Hut is , eats in there. The consumerism of American culture is spreading like a virus throughout the world. Knowing English has become more important than knowing your country's national language , as knowing English is being equivalent to one's levels of literacy , which is WRONG. However , when one country is globally dominant , its influence and power is bound to reach and seep into other countries due to their marketing and advertising. Therefore , there is a likely probability of the poultry treatment in America being extended by foreign export exchange to other Oriental countries as well. However , Foers senselessly takes it a several steps further without any solid logical evidence or argument to this leading towards the end of our lives.
